Help Needed
The
Breed Council has received a request from the Spanish SBT club to assist with
the legal costs of their appeal against a Royal Decree restricting the
ownership of Staffordshire Bull Terriers. This will almost certainly be
discussed at the next Breed Council meeting but in the meantime, if you wish
to give practical help, please send a cheque payable to "SBT Breed Council -
Westminster Fund" to the BC secretary, Jaci McLauchlan or via any of the
constituent breed clubs. Alternatively, you can send your cheque to me at 53,
Ashford Avenue, Ashford, Middlesex, TW15 2BB, England and I will send them on
to Jaci.
There is a fairly small but growing population of Staffords in Spain but many
other nationalities go there for holidays. Increasingly people can now take
their pets with them on holiday and so restrictions around Europe are
eventually going to result in pets being seized unless we can overturn this
unnecessary and
ill-founded legislation. There is also, of course, the "Domino effect" of
states copying other states and banning various breeds of dogs. We have to
fight this nonsense and the Spanish Stafford owners need our help right now.
