More information via the NCDL - re Spain
I have received further information from Spain and this points out that
Staffords must now be muzzled amongst other restrictions AND ONLY ONE DOG AT A
TIME! I am unclear whether this means you can only walk one dog or only own one
dog!
====================
In reply to you query re dangerous dogs I can confirm that according to a local
newspaper (English) what you ask is correct. The regulations were approved last
week and there are eight breeds including SBTs on the list and any crossbreeds
of those eight.
The owner must:
- Have a licence
- Be adult
- Have no criminal record
- Be physically and mentally able to care for the dog. This to be confirmed by a
certificate from the local town hall valid for 5 years
- Dog must be microchipped and muzzled in public and on a lead of no more than 2
metres
- Only one dog per person.
There are also rules for the housing of the dog
The owner must also have third party insurance of 120000 euros In addition to
these breeds and crosses the law also applies to other dogs which may be
considered dangerous through weight size manner etc.
The article also states objections from the SBT club and Rottweiler clubs have
been made.
Hope this is of some use to you.
